Sense of Grief Prevails in Pakistan Over Tragic Incidences:
Condolences Expressed by the President and Prime Minister
People of Pakistan, within the country and abroad, are saddened by the tragic incidences which took place in various parts of Pakistan just before the holy festival of Eid. In Ahmedpur Sharqiya an incident of fire explosion in an overturned oil tanker killing 170 people and terrorists attacks one in Quetta and another in Parachinar resulting in the loss of 85 lives are being mourned by the nation.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif cut his trip to London short to condole with people in the Bahawalpur oil tanker blaze. He reached Ahmad Pur Sharqiya by helicopter and joined Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other provincial officials in condoling the horrific accident that had shocked the nation one day before Eid.
The premier had flown in directly to Bahawalpur, where he visited the Victoria Hospital and spent time with those injured in the incident. Prime Minister Sharif also ordered an inquiry into the oil tanker inferno saying “an inquiry was imperative to avoid such tragic incidents in the future”.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had also expressed their deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the deadly incidences of Quetta and Parachinar. Expressing their condolences for the departed souls, they had directed for urgent medical assistance to the injured.
Prime Minister has ordered security to be tightened across the country after the attacks.
“Terrorists are attacking soft targets and no Muslim can ever imagine to commit such horrific act,” he said in a statement. “Such acts of terrorism will be dealt with the full power of the state.” he added.
The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has sought report of the incident. Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminate the last terrorist from the country. She said the enemies of peace in the country would be dealt with iron hands.The Minister of State said such cowardly attacks cannot dent the resolve of the nation against the menace of terrorism.
Prime Minister has also announced Rs. 1 million compensation for each family of the victims of the recent Parachinar bombing and Rs. 0.5 million for each person injured in the blasts, according to a statement issued from the Prime Minister House. The premier has already issued directions to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zafar Iqbal Jhagra in this regard, said the statement.
